Burning Man Workers

I don’t normally post information regarding worker protests (i.e. strikes), but this one really caught my attention. Once or twice during the past few years, one or two Burning Man employees in San Francisco have asked my advice around HR issues since they didn’t feel that they had a place they could go.

I don’t know if it’s still that way and I don’t necessarily want to make any judgments about how things are now since I don’t know any more about what goes on in their office than I do in anyone else’s office.

That being said, I can’t be sure if things have improved all that much if a protest is happening.

Between this protest and John Law‘s lawsuit, it sounds like the Black Rock LLC has some challenges ahead.

I hope for everyone’s sake that it ends up on a good note since very many people attend the event every year and want to see it continue for a long time to come.

Well, as my friend Mikl-Em once said (in reference to calling the Burning Man location “Black Rock City”), “Be careful of your analogies, one day they may come true”.

Sounds awfully prophetic to me.

UPDATE: Here’s a video of the protest. It’s kind of strange.
