GINA Passes The Senate!!

From SHRM:

“The U.S. Senate overwhelmingly approved on April 24, 2008, legislation (H.R. 493) that will prohibit employers and health insurance companies from discriminating against or refusing coverage to individuals based on the results of genetic testing.

The vote of 95-0 put the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) on the verge of passing both houses. Almost one year ago to the day (April 25, 2007), the House of Representatives passed an earlier version of H.R. 493 by a vote of 420-3.”

Yee-Haw! It still needs to pass in the House, but it’s a definite step in the right direction!
