Not So Yahoo

According to Silicon Alley Insider, 1,500 – 2,000 layoffs/job eliminations may be imminent at Yahoo.

What frankly shocks me, is not necessarily the layoffs, but the fact that such confidential information has become public. How did Silicon Alley Insider get this information?

Information regarding layoffs is usually communicated internally on a “need to know” basis among members of management, which possibly indicates to me where the leak may be.

Can you imagine being one of the affected employees and finding out on a Sunday that you may or may not have a job next week? Must do wonders for morale. I don’t envy their HR department having to manage the anxiety levels on the job.

This is not the first time that confidential information at Yahoo was made public.

I get the feeling that it’s going to be a very long week in Sunnyvale.
